Everyone enjoys these creatures in a different way.  This is a section for those who are willing to share their thoughts and experiences on a continuing basis.  Most are not academically trained in aquaculture, but all enjoy Micro-Lobsters and want to learn more.  I am happy to help everyone,  but especially those who are willing to have the interchange shared to help others. These are some of the members of the Fuku-Bonsai Micro-Lobster Team.

Fuku-Bonsai has made extraordinary progress due to the interaction with a large number of some of the top aquaculture researchers in Hawaii, our full range of suppliers and business associates, but also our customers and correspondents!  Often in answering a customer's questions,  we begin to explore new areas that had not previously been explored. Several have projects and I try to assist and in doing so,  I learn too.

I very strongly believe that these amazing creatures are to be nurtured, loved, and treasured.  I believe they should be in every school to help teach our children about the wonders of nature and the need to practice conservation. They are a priceless connection to personal peace in a crazy world turned upside down.

The ultimate goal of all of this interaction is to learn the factors that will affect Micro-Lobster captive breeding.  This is essential as it is the primary conservation activity that will provide the future Micro-Lobster supply and which will assure that they never become endangered. We need as many observers as possible.  Bryan Yoshimura has taken the lead and he's provided the initial breakthroughs!  Much of the REPRODUCTION RESEARCH REPORT being compiled to date has been based upon his observations and photographs.  We need as many observers as possible from as many locations as possible!

Significant opae-ula research is on-going and being conducted by Thomas Iwai, Jr. that promises to advance the captive breeding available information.  He will soon be putting together the preliminary draft and will submit his paper for formal publication.  More on this as it happens.  We are making steady progress! Stay tuned!  I invite you to share your story and be a member of our Micro-Lobster Team!  ~~~David

CARRIE'S PAGE 2:  Combining Four Smaller Units into One Larger Tank!
Carrie had four beautiful units. But the opae-ula were smaller and less active.  She shares her efforts towards creating a larger unit and what happens as she begins to feed them.

CARRIE'S PAGE 3:  Tank #3
Carrie noticed that just combining four smaller units into a larger tank did not produce the same results.  So we began another experiment.  She was sent an unassembled Mini-Breeding Tank components so she could switch components between her Tank #2 and #3.  This may provide clues as to the factors that would improve the size, health and personalities of her original creatures.

David successfully hatched larvae,  isolated them, and posted frequent reports on larval development.  THIS IS THE BEST INFORMATION AVAILABLE IN LAYMAN'S TERMS OF LARVAL DEVELOPMENT ON THE INTERNET. DAVID, MAHALO FOR SHARING THIS!
DR. SAM GON III'S PAGE
Sam is the highly respected Director of Science of The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii and for a number of years,  he has been breeding opae-ula in his office.   He is considered a world authority on trilobites,  a class of extinct marine arthropods. THIS IS THE BEST INFORMATION AVAILABLE ON CAPTIVE BREEDING OF OPAE-ULA ON THE INTERNET.  SAM, MAHALO FOR SHARING THIS!
