The Entry Tree is amongst the oldest Dwarf Schefflera bonsai trained from cuttings of the initial distribution by the University of Hawaii in the early 1970's that was part of the start of the Hawaii Certifited Export Nursery Program.  Fuku-Bonsai was one of the first in the program and the only nursery focusing on creation of branded value-added products that were direct niche marketed. It is mounted on a 6' diameter concrete disc on turntable hardware. The Dwarf Schefflera collection with educational exhibits are just a small part of the major public bonsai collection.  The bonsai garden is divided into several themed sections including Hawaiian Tropical (outdoor) Bonsai,  Ficus (banyan) Bonsai,  Chinese Penjing,  Japanese Bonsai, and include the memorial bonsai of the Hawaii State Bonsai Repository.

Fuku-Bonsai is a working bonsai nursery --- but it's much more! In partnership with the 501(3)(c) Mid-Pacific Bonsai Foundation, the Fuku-Bonsai Cultural Center & Hawaii State Bonsai Repository is a bonsai visitor attraction where you can enjoy:

        1.    THE PUBLIC BONSAI COLLECTION. This is the most varied major collection of artistic pot plants including award-winning Japanese bonsai, the acclaimed Chinese penjing in the U.S., the first generation of tropical outdoor bonsai that differed from Japanese "pine-tree concepts," and the original trees that pioneered True Indoor Bonsai. It includes memorial bonsai trained by past Hawaii bonsai masters (in the Hawaii State Bonsai Repository) and specimen bonsai created at Hawaiian conventions or by visiting international bonsai masters including Japan's Saburo Kato, California's John Naka, Hawaii's Haruo Kaneshiro, and many others. The collection is known for its Banyan (Ficus) Bonsai,  "sumo, roots, and Hawaiian dragon stylings," rock plantings, and especially for 360 complex landscapes.  The bonsai artifact, historical, and educational exhibits provide an introduction to the world of bonsai with an emphasis on Fuku-Bonsai's True Indoor Bonsai Dwarf Schefflera specialty. We began growing Dwarf Schefflera as bonsai from when it was first introduced in the early 1970's and our Dwarf Schefflera Bonsai are outstanding and oldest in the world.
