PORT JACKSON BANYAN
The common names for Ficus rubiginosa are Rusty Fig, Port Jackson Fig, or Little-leaved Morton Bay Fig. Leaves are 4" to 6" long and the bottom of the leaves are usually a khaki or "rusty" color. This Australia specie is drought-resistant. Leaves reduce in size to about 1" so the tree has good bonsai potential.

This is the standard tropical multiple apex-arched branched structure. The tree grows 40' to 60' tall depending upon the amount of soil available. This is a smaller tree growing on a rocky ledge with a modest amount of soil. |

Roots clamber over the rocky ledge and some fall away from the trunk. In dry climates, there are few if any aerial roots. |

Roots seem to flow over the lava ledge. As they grow and thicken, roots fuse together. |
For being a member of the ficus family, this is a relatively non-aggressive tree.
